MEET YOUR NEW COACH !!! Timex Bodylink System Collects, Displays and Graphs Personal Performance Data. The Bodylink System is a network of devices worn on the body that together act as single information and sport monitoring system. Bodylink offers athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike the unprecedented ability to track, store and analyze several key indicators of personal performance. Individual components of the system include:
While each of the components will be available separately, the Data Recorder - which weighs only 30 grams and comes bundled with the Timex Trainer software - is the first device that ties the system together. By separating the system components, users can choose functions according to individual needs and then upgrade if those needs change. In addition, the system is designed to be compatible with additional sensors as new and useful features are developed. As an example of the systems unique capabilities, an athlete using the Timex Ironman Speed + Distance System and the Ironman Digital Heart Rate Fitness System could capture heart rate and speed information over the course of a workout and then overlay the data on a computer-generated graph as depicted here: The ability to store and then graph two or more distinctly different yet related types of data within a single system is what makes the Timex Bodylink System an amazingly powerful training tool and a standout among performance measuring devices. For the first time, athletes will have the ability to measure and monitor their performance in the real world where they can compare their effort (heart rate) to their performance (speed and distance). Over time, through proper training, users will be able to measure changes in their heart rate relative to speed or an increase in speed relative to heart rate. The combination of these two types of information is, clearly, far superior either on their own. The system’s included Timex Trainer Software (co-developed by Active.com and TrainingBible.com) allows users to maintain a comprehensive training log and prepare customized graphs of their collected performance related data. Exercise information can also be shared with coaching resources like TrainingBible.com and events imported from Active.com, so users can have access to personal and online coaching resources. “The genius of the Bodylink System is that it enhances, rather than obsoletes some of Timex’s existing performance sport products,” says Wilson Keithline, Director of Advanced Products. “This combination of existing and emerging technologies is an example of Timex’s commitment to developing increasingly useful and cost-effective tools for athletes.”
From the revolutionary timepieces of the early 1950’s that brought inexpensive, dependable wristwatches to the general public, to the more recent innovation, like the Timex Ironman Speed & Distance System, the Timex name is synonymous with helpful innovation. Timex Corporation, headquartered in Middlebury, Connecticut, is the largest selling watch brand in America. |
